Our curriculum introduces students to issues that encourage global citizenship, providing tools for students to become active leaders and agents in their community. It is designed to encourage critical thinking, promote empathy and collaboration among students, and can be used to teach subjects ranging from language arts to social studies and math. You can teach directly from the materials, enhance an existing lesson plan, or build a new unit around the curriculum.

Yes, the Girl Rising curriculum is currently available in Spanish and French.

+ What is the difference between the Educator Edition of the Girl Rising film and the consumer version?

The Educator Edition includes the full Girl Rising film along with additional resources not included with the consumer version. The Educator Edition offers video extras, a comprehensive Teacher Guide, the rights to screen the film in an educational setting in perpetuity and is available in seven languages.

+ What is the relationship between the GR curriculum, book, and the Educator Edition of the film?

The Girl Rising Book and the additional resources on the Educator Edition of the DVD are supplementary tools that expand upon and enhance the lessons in the GR curriculum; however, it is possible to teach Girl Rising using only the free curriculum and free educator resources.

Along with the feature film, the Educator Edition package includes more than a dozen video “extras” and a comprehensive Teacher Guide. This version also includes the rights to screen the film in an educational setting in perpetuity.

The book works as either a stand alone resource or as a powerful complement to the film. It illuminates the film’s featured stories and provides additional details on the stories of other girls we met during the production process.

+ How can my classroom connect with others using Girl Rising around the world?

The International Education and Resource Network (iEARN) provides a platform that empowers classrooms from around the world to engage in collaborative learning. Through their Girl Rising-Education for All initiative, they provide students an interactive space to connect, share ideas, and showcase class projects.

+ My students want to know how they can take action. Do you have resources to help them get started?

The GR Take Action Guide provides additional ideas to help students, teachers, parents, and communities get involved and support the Girl Rising mission.

The Additional Resources Guide provides a list of internet resources, books, and other Girl Rising videos for students who want to look for more facts about gender issues around the world, stories of girl empowerment, and other NGO organizations.

This Starter Kit, developed by the Millennium High School’s Girl Rising club, provides a roadmap to help students in the U.S. and around the world launch their own Girl Rising club. The kit breaks down the steps students can take to launch the club at their at their own schools. It also provides activity ideas and fundraising opportunities.
