Little BIG Prints: Aspire to inspire
The creative story above is about an individual's action to create change for girls and women. It was submitted to the Girl Rising Champions of Change Contest, powered by HP. Little Big Prints (LBP) is a mentorship program that matches girls in rural-based secondary schools with female college mentors in Malawi.
LBP primarily provides mentorship for 2-3 girls in community secondary school. The mentor program is implemented by female college students, currently from Chancellor College. Female youth at university level are trained to operate as mentors for girls aged 14-18 years old. This is done through weekly 2 hour long sessions over a 15 week project cycle and it culminates into a community
development project that is implemented by the beneficiary girls.
Since launching LBP, we have reached 80+ secondary school girls. Some beneficiary girls have since been selected into tertiary education institutions, while other girls have started small-scale businesses. In addition, alumni mentors have returned to serve as LBP staff even after graduating.
