Storytelling is the heart of Girl Rising’s Education Programs.
Our stories help build understanding and empathy. They are engaging and powerful ways to explore issues around rights, equity, and the value of education. Girl Rising uses stories to introduce activities and spark conversations. Our stories help build voice, agency, and gender-equitable attitudes in millions of adolescents. They help build self-efficacy among educators, and help build allies for girls’ education among parents, caregivers and community members.

Collaborations with Nabu
Girl Rising collaborates with Nabu to help bring inspiring books in mother tongues to young people. “Dance of Courage,” published in English and Swahili, follows the journey of Sam and Kaweria as they chase their dreams and share their talents with the world. Written & illustrated by creators in Kenya with Nabu and HP, the story celebrate the power of storytelling to build courage and resilience in young readers everywhere
